Cognizant Leverages RDK-B
for Home Automation Platform

Every home will be connected. The increasing ‘smart home’ demand spurred Cognizant to develop an inexpensive, open-sourced solution to home automation control by combining our home automation and IoT expertise with the flexibility of the RDK-B platform. The solution demo uses an RDK-B enabled Raspberry Pi device running RDK-B to control automation functions in the home such as lights, security cameras, and thermostats.

In a period of 3-4 weeks, we were able to build a control mechanism on the Raspberry Pi using the RDK. By leveraging the RDK-B WiFi and network device control management you can extend the control and functionality of home automation devices. The solution is ready for further extensions and supports multiple cloud platforms, allowing Cognizant to support the needs of a wide range of customers. The RDK-B enable solution was unveiled at the 2018 RDK Americas Summit this February in Denver, Colorado.

This is one example of how Cognizant leverages the RDK to provide customers with timely, innovative solutions.  Other services provided by Cognizant include back office integration, components for analytics, and development and testing work for a variety of customers around RDK.
